Frequently Asked Questions
- 01Unfortunately my system will only allow you to book in the first session on the booking calendar. We can discuss after the lesson when you'd like your next one, and I'll get that booked in for you. Most students do the same time each week.
- 02Usually lessons are 1 hour. But you can now also book 30, 45 or 90 minute lessons as well depending on what works best for you.
- 03You can pay using either PayPal or Credit Card when prompted at the checkout.
- 04We'll go over a topic related to improving your chess. Afterwards, you'll receive a lichess study of what we studied so you can interactively practice it at your convenience along with homework puzzles, and finally a google spreadsheet (regular students) to keep track of your lessons.
- 05I use Zoom for all lessons. After booking, you'll receive a zoom link which will allow you to join the meeting room a few minutes before the start time. Once I've accepted your join request you'll be able to see/hear me and see my screen. If you don't feel comfortable using video, that's fine, I just need to be able to hear you
- 06I usually start of by going through some of your games (from OTB or online) to see your strengths/weaknesses. I then like to discuss your opening repertoire, to make sure that is in good shape and then will make a plan on tailoring each lesson to making you a better player.
- 07I have experience ranging from beginners to titled players both old and young. As long as you're willing to work with me, I can help you reach the next level.
- 08At the moment I only do group lessons for the UK Chess Challenge, but if this is something you’re interested in, please reach out and I'll see what I can do.
- 09I don't currently do any face to face lessons. But if you happen to be nearby Cambridgeshire, then it might be possible to arrange something.
- 10You'll receive a reminder email 24 hours before our lesson. You can reschedule anytime before the lesson by emailing me. If you could give me at least 1 hour notice, that would be appreciated.
